Crystal Swing members Mary Murray-Burke and her kids Dervla and Derek make up the most unlikely pop group. Hailing from a small town in Cork, the act have shot to fame in the past year after their performance of ‘He Drinks Tequila’ was noticed by American chat show host Ellen DeGeneres.

Following their appearance at this year’s Electric Picnic, Crystal Swing will play at Monroe’s Live on Thursday 16 September. The show promises to be a fast paced knees-up with infamous songs like ‘He Drinks Tequila’ and other feel-good, infectious melodies.

Tickets are €12, and can be purchased from Monroe’s or The Galleon Restaurant in Salthill. Tickets can also be bought on the night for €15, but are limited in supply and in high demand already, so purchasing in advance is recommended.

It’s all happening for Galway based DJ/producers Tom Lavin and Adrohan. Last month saw the two lads’ debut single hit number one on leading dance store, www.trackitdown.net.

This was followed with two top ten remixes, one of which was for Matthew Dunne of his track ‘Kaktai’ and was played for three weeks in a row on BBC Radio 1 by Judge Jules and even featured in his Ibiza Weekender set live from Privelege nightclub.

Clive Nicoli (Adrien Brody) and Elsa Kast (Sarah Polley) are two young scientists who have been given the job of running a genetic laboratory at a large corporation to develop a protein using animal gene splicing from several different species.

To speed up the process, they secretly take a chance and add human DNA to the experiment. What they get is a new organism that Clive wants to destroy, but Elsa convinces him to let it live a little longer. As the creature grows bigger, you begin to see a new animal species. The creature looks like a human female, but has many features of several animals. The creature has wings, a stinger, can breathe under water and can communicate with Elsa.
